For years I’ve talked about passing my test and getting a bike, in fact it’s something I’ve been talking about since childhood but never really fulfilled.
Me and Debs live in a beautiful part of Scotland, with fantastic roads right on our doorstep so we see and hear bikes going past daily. Our kids are now embarking on their own adventures in life which sees us with more time on our hands to do our own thing and the more we explore our beautiful country the more we notice people touring on bikes, both as individuals and as part of larger groups. Our comments to each other of ‘we should do that’ have now reached a point where we have decided to actually do it.
Our minds were firmly made up today when we went for a drive to Kinloch Rannoch and stopped at the Queens View Landmark outside Pitlochry. This beautiful view looks right down across Loch Tummel. Whilst there we sat in the sun enjoying a cup of tea and a slice of cake when a group of approx. 12 touring bikes pulled into the car park, the riders and pillions were from Germany on a tour of the Highlands. At that moment we smiled at each other and knew we were embarking on an amazing adventure together.
We talked about it in the car on the way home, and so it was decided, at the age of 40 we are both going to get our motorcycle licence and start exploring our beautiful country on two wheels!
This blog will no doubt feature a lot of motorcycle related posts from this point on, we hope you stick around for the ride!
And to that end I’ll leave you with a picture of the view we experienced this afternoon looking down on Loch Tummel!
